The Calhoun Freshmen Black football team defeated the Houston Stafford Spartans by a score of 40-25 on Thursday night in Houston. The first half saw each team score on multiple possessions as the score swung back and forth for the first 2 quarters. Utilizing an effective running game, the Crabs were able to take a 24-19 lead into halftime. Behind the running of Aaron Martinez, Tyson Bonuz, Tony Hensley, Seth Sandberg and others, the Crabs began to pull away in the second half. Calvin Navarro added a touchdown reception and also an interception on defense to help the Crabs seize control of the game. Midway through the 4th quarter the Crabs held a 40-19 advantage. The Sandcrab defense stiffened during the second half and limited the Spartans to only one score in the second half. The victory moves the Freshmen Black’s record to 2-0 and their next contest will be against Katy Seven Lakes in Katy on Thursday night.
