The Calhoun JV White Team took on the Pirates of Rockport Fulton in their own backyard this past Thursday, October 18, 2018 at Sandcrab Stadium. The Sandcrabs were presented with a huge challenge as they took on Rockports Gold Team. The Sandcrabs were looking to keep their undefeated season alive. Early in the first half the Sandcrabs were in a battle with the Pirates. The Pirates took their first three offensive possessions and found the endzone on all three trips. Sandcrab defensive found it hard to stop the running attack of the pirates with the misdirection of the Slot-T offense. The Sandcrab Offense struggled early only finding the endzone once and turning the ball over twice with a fumble and interception both coming from Sophomore Quarterback Johnny Barrios. Right before the half the defense came up with a big stop when Sophomore Safety Dalton Alford found the endzone with a 97yard fumbled recovery on a failed 2pt conversion by the pirates. The Sandcrabs found themselves in a hole to start the second half down 20-9. The Sandcrab Offense got things rolling in the second half when Runningback Damen Salinas found the endzone twice. The Defense pitched a shutout in the second half playing big and not letting the Pirates score again. Sophomore quarterback Johnny Barrios marched the Sandcrabs down the field which capped off a 8 minute 15 play drive to put the Sandcrabs up by 3 with less than one minute to play in the game. The offense converted two fourth downs on that same drive. With one minute left Kicker Jose Ledesma pinned the Pirates back on the one. Defense held on to stop the pirates with one minute left on the clock sealing the victory for the Sandcrabs and keeping their undefeated streak of 27-0 alive.
