First Inning Plays Key Role In Sandies Blow Out Over San Antonio Highlands
Sandies put up five runs in the first on its way to an 8-1 victory over San Antonio Highlands on Saturday. The offensive onslaught by Sandies was led by Claire Blinka, Catherine Hernandez, Amri Gaona, Maise Ondreas, and Madison Escobar, all driving in runs in the inning.
Sandies got things started in the first inning. Sandies scored one run when Blinka singled.
Hernandez earned the victory on the pitcher’s mound for Sandies. She went seven innings, allowing one run on six hits, striking out three and walking one.
Abcde Cortinas took the loss for San Antonio Highlands. She allowed seven hits and six runs over two innings, striking out one and walking zero.
Sandies totaled nine hits. Zoe Flores and Blinka each managed multiple hits for Sandies. Floresled Sandies with three hits in four at bats.
Katrina Uriegas went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead San Antonio Highlands in hits.
