Catherine Throws Shutout As Sandies Defeats Victoria West
Catherine Hernandez didn’t allow a single run against Victoria West, throwing a complete game shutout and leading Sandies to a 8-0 victory on Saturday
Sandies secured the victory thanks to six runs in the fourth inning. Sandies put the pressure on, lead by doubles by Hernandez and Amri Gaona, a walk by Claire Blinka, a single by Kylee Cormier, and a groundout by Arly Sanchez.
Sandies fired up the offense in the first inning.
Sandies notched six runs in the fourth inning. Blinka, Sanchez, Hernandez, Gaona, and Cormier each had RBIs in the big inning.
One bright spot for Victoria West was a single by K Rojasin the sixth inning.
Hernandez was in the pitcher’s circle for Sandies. She lasted seven innings, allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out six.
A James was on the rubber for Victoria West. She allowed eight hits and eight runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out four. M Huerta threw two and a third innings in relief.
Sandies collected nine hits on the day. Blinka and Sanchez each racked up multiple hits for Sandies. Sanchez and Blinka each collected two hits to lead Sandies.
Rojas led Victoria West with one hit in two at bats.
